Senior Mental Health Nurse/ Forensic Clinical Specialist

Calvin is an experienced mental health nurse with over 18 years’ experience in both Youth and Adult Acute, Forensic and Community settings. He has worked in the UK, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Over the year he has worked in various environments (including Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit, Adult Acute Wards, Adolescent Medium Secure Unit and Forensic Unit, Community Mental Health, Team Manager roles and currently Forensic Clinical Specialist.

His special interest is complex mental health disorders and individuals with complex comorbidities, including those at risk of contact with the criminal justice system.

Calvin provides holistic and comprehensive biopsychosocial interventions informed by his expertise in various therapies. He also works with families of individuals with mental disorders, providing education on relapse prevention, safety planning and crisis management.

Calvin is accepting clients seeking support with the following needs – 

Psychotherapy, case management and counselling

  • Outreach (face to face) or Telehealth appointments available.
  • Improved functional capacity and psychosocial recovery.
  • Improved confidence in accessing the community and improving their daily living skills.
  • Psychoeducation to both clients, families and other agencies supporting them.
  • Crisis management plans
  • Liasing with other stakeholders
  • Clients on NDIS requiring ongoing mental health support/ psychotherapy

 

Forensic Risk Assessment and Mental Health

Calvin provides our clients with various comprehensive risk assessments to mitigate persistent risk of harm. These assessments include (but are not limited to) threat assessments, violence risk assessments, stalking risk assessments, arson, sexual violence risk assessments, and Spousal Assault Risk assessments.

He routinely develops comprehensive risk management and safety plans for our clients when required.

He provide various forms of training to organisations on how to respond to violence and aggression in the workplace. We also provide supervision to healthcare workers and reflective practice to professionals within the criminal justice system/security, healthcare and other private organisations.

Fee on application, no Medicare rebates available.

Calvin is able to provide under NDIS – Therapeutic supports for participants who are plan or self-managed.
